Welcome to Walnut Grove  United Methodist Church. It has pretty much what you would expect to find on a website – maybe more than we need, but we just want folks to understand who we are and get a sense of us. The best way to find out about us is to visit. I hope you will. I think you will find us inviting and welcoming – but then again, as the  Pastor, I’m probably biased!

If you come, we promise not to single you out, and we promise you a comfortable place alongside folk just like you as we seek to follow God and where God leads in our personal lives and in our life together as a church.

We believe that every congregation that lifts up Jesus as Lord and Savior needs to help people CONNECT with God, each other and the community; open opportunities for folks to SERVE Jesus as we share his love with our community; create opportunities to learn and GROW in our faith; but the most important is to provide a place for us to WORSHIP in a way that effectively reaches our hearts and our minds.  This isn’t rocket science. It’s just the basic stuff we all need as we seek to follow where God leads.

Check us and this website out, and then come visit us for worship. If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to call or email me.

Doug Flinn, Pastor

New Sermon Series

What sort of church does Jesus prefer? Baptist? Methodist? Lutheran? Catholic?

Perhaps we should ask it another way. Does he prefer . . .  Rural churches? Megachurches?
House churches? City churches?

Maybe Jesus prefers . . . Large buildings, Storefronts, Cathedrals?

Thankfully, we are not left to wonder about the answer. Revelation 2-3 tells us what sort of church Jesus prefers. When we survey these seven churches, we discover that none of the things I listed is mentioned. When Jesus looks at a church, he’s not studying outward things. He’s looking for the deeper signs of growing faith, fervent love, and abiding hope. He wants his churches to be motivated by love, founded on the truth, strong under pressure, and unashamed of his name.

In this series, we will examine God's desire for us as we seek to fulfill his mission of making disciples for Jesus Christ.
