5 Year Ministry Outreach Plan - April 2010 Biblical Purpose Statement: To authentically pursue Christ and reflect His love to the world. Vision Statement Walnut Grove will be a lighthouse showing people God’s unconditional love. We will do this by helping them meet needs and improve their life skills. As people recognize God’s love for them, they will find a safe harbor in a relationship with Jesus Christ Top 4 Values What our church values most. 1. Bible-based 2. Mission & Outreach 3. Fellowship 4. Family centered (Youth and Children’s Ministries) Strategic Values What we need to value in order to accomplish our vision. 1. Christ-based 2. Flexibility/willingness to change 3. Risk taking 4. Action 5. Partnering (with other churches or organizations in our community) 6 Strategic Values Outreaches that we plan to initiate over the next five years. This list is not exclusive. Groups and members of the church are encouraged to engage in and start other outreaches as they feel led. Off-Site Worship by Fall 2010 Having a worship service outside of the church itself, in a location such as storefront, Camp Common Grounds, or the drive-in movie theater. The goal is to share Christ with people who normally wouldn’t come to church. The service would have a casual “coffee house” atmosphere with a meal and praise music. We may partner with other area churches to do this. Crock Pot Mondays by Summer 2010 One item meals will be served at the store front just north of Brunson’s. The goals are for food and fellowship with the Hardin County Community. Mentoring/Tutoring by Fall 2010 Offering assistance in academics that will help develop social as well as academic skills. By doing mentoring /tutoring in the school we hopefully will exhibit Christ’s love and help to nurture that within the child. Volunteer tutors will work with the teachers to decide how much time should be spent, and what content to focus on according to the child’s needs. Grandma’s House Timing determined by contact with Helping Hands. Partnering with Helping Hands to provide emergency temporary foster care when children are taken out of the home in an emergency situation. The first step is to contact Deanna Wages at Helping Hands to see what kind of help she needs. We anticipate that they will need financial support, a group of people to fix up the building, volunteers to staff the facility, food, and games or activities for the children. |
